So as the website is in my name, it's time to share a little about me.

I try to answer the call of the wild swimming whatsapp group whenever a shout out goes out. It's the best way to shake any troubles away with a great bunch of girls.

I'm also very lucky to be part of two really great book clubs with inspiring women - and they've been going long enough now that the pressure is off to actually read the books. Their interests are diverse and you can never quite tell what's going to be talked about at each evening - it can be quite a giggle!

Golf has been following me around all my life in the places that I live. I finally succumbed to learning how to play a few years ago. I'm a bit rusty but I'm hoping for more time to play over the next year.

And in quiet times at home in the evening, I love to knit and sew. I love the peaceful repetitive movements to produce something you're proud of - and sometimes not, but you've had a nice time doing it!

Finally, I enjoy property renovation. I'm completing a house renovation - bringing the blank canvas of a time warp of a 1970s house into the 21st century. I've incorporated sustainability wherever I can.

Small Business Podcasts

The Resilient Retail Game Plan

The UK’s leading podcast for independent retailers by Catherine Erdly.

With over one million downloads, the podcast offers fluff-free small business advice and behind-the-scenes interviews that inspire shopkeepers and share the realities of running a successful independent retail business today.

I've taken one of her courses and Catherine is lovely and also so generous with the information she provides. I learnt a lot from her.

An Art to It

In each episode Elaine talks to an artist or maker or other creative who, whatever their discipline, are all fortunate to have turned their passion for creating into their occupation. They chat about at what point does a passion for making become your profession? Can you turn a love of creating and turn it into a successful business?

As they discuss their journey to being professional artists and makers they explore inspirations, imposter syndrome, what success really means and of course, if there IS an art to running a flourishing creative business.

I was introduced to this by a lovely client and it's very interesting.

The business podcast for creative entrepreneurs who want to build a profitable, sustainable business, while honouring the way you naturally work. How To Fail

How To Fail with Elizabeth Day is a podcast that celebrates the things in life that haven’t gone right and what we might learn from them along the way. Every week, Elizabeth’s guest explores three failures, and what these failures have taught them about how to grow and succeed, better. We’d love to hear from you! Get in touch with Elizabeth to share your failures, problems or questions - anonymously or otherwise. She'll go through these each week with the help of her very special guests. And remember: a fail shared is a fail halved.

Liz was my brother's lovely serious girlfriend at university. They shared many happy memories. He was tragically killed at the age of 24 but Liz remains special to our family.

Wanging On

Graham Norton is reunited with his dear friend Maria McErlane to dish out average advice and so-so solutions to your everyday dilemmas. Together they do their level best to tackle office politics, friendship tensions, unruly pets, neighbourly disputes and family bust-ups. Plus you - the ‘Wangers’ - can wade in with your nuggets of wisdom too.

Each week, Graham and Maria share the latest in their life - be it bikes, books, haircuts or hangover cures. They’ll also pass judgement on your most peculiar proclivities in Am I Weird? So don’t let your problems get you down, let Graham and Maria help!

When I was in hospital in 2015 for ten weeks, I listened to all of Graham Norton's radio shows - in particular the section with Maria. I'm so delighted they now do a podcast. They make me laugh so much.
