Discovering Sashiko

Discovering Sashiko

🪡I'm getting hooked onto Sashiko. I'm rediscovering the simple art of using running stitch as a decorative form. I used to do it all the time as a child stitching around borders and elements of fabric panels.

🤩I've rediscovered it and it has a name! Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery using the running stitch to embroider and strengthen rural Japanese working clothes.

😍I've been using this pre-printed panel to remind myself of the rhythmical meditative movement of the stitch and I love it! Watch this space as I delve more into the world of Sashiko.
